The Moskvich 5 is a compact five-door crossover with a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine, a CVT automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive. It is an easy thing to get on with: tall enough to see over traffic on the A6, narrow enough at roughly 1.85 metres to live with on Chapel Street, and automatic, so the crawl towards the Quays is not a chore.
Everything is arranged directly: you ring, we confirm the dates, and the car is either collected in Salford or brought to you. No counter and no queue.
A five-seat, five-door compact crossover of roughly 4.5 metres long, 1.85 wide and 1.70 tall. The 1.5 turbo petrol makes around 150bhp in our car — the model has been sold in versions between 136 and 184bhp — driving the front wheels through a CVT automatic. There is no naturally aspirated version of this car.
A slightly smaller crossover from the same maker. We keep it so that a confirmed booking never falls over because the 5 came back late. You can ask for it specifically, but unless you do, the Moskvich 5 is the car we are holding.
Serviced to schedule with an independent garage in Salford and valeted after every hire. Anything flagged at handover stops the car going out again until it is dealt with.

A refundable £250 deposit is held at collection and released when the car comes back as it left. Fuel is like-for-like. Comprehensive insurance for drivers aged 25 to 70 with a £750 excess, and breakdown cover, are included.
